The Coburg Market turns 86 this August, and it’s without doubt the people, passions and diverse interests that keep this vibrant market’s character alive.

We chat with Coburg Market’s Manager – Tony, to find out a little more about what makes he and the market tick.

As a local, Tony’s passion for the market environment dates back his early years when he started out in the fruit industry 18 years ago with his brother Fred. He took on the role as manager in 1998 and has been waking up every morning at 4am most mornings, to provide the very best produce to the market ever since.

“I’ve made some incredible friends working in Coburg, the sort that you keep for a lifetime” Tells Tony.
“From regular customers, to young staff I’ve watched grow up with the business – it’s been a real journey that I’ve loved watching unfold. You’d never see me living (or working) anywhere else!”















As the local community seek healthier and fresher food alternatives, business is thriving at the Coburg Market. When Tony isn’t busy with work, he spends his spare time with friends and family, cooking up a mean BBQ with fresh produce from the market.


Pressed for the intel on Coburg’s best coffee; he thinks Andre’s Café pour the best coffee – and if he had to pick just one colour to represent the area – it’d be a cool sky blue: reflecting the possibilities for locals and business owners.
